As E-Learning Coordinator: Coordination of whole school (K-12) integration of technology and e-Learning, including teacher professional development. Responsible for overseeing the 1:1 implementation across the MYP (MacBooks), and for mobile computing and online learning at all curriculum levels. Responsible for coordination of the IT Manager and IT Services department.
As MYP Coordinator: Responsible for teacher, student and community awareness and understanding of the Middle Years Programme, including overseeing implementation, curriculum development, training and assessment. Member of the academic administrative team at BISS.

2007-2009: Head of Information Technology and E-Learning, Qatar Academy, Doha, State of Qatar

Major Accountabilities:

  • Member of the administrative team responsible for information technology and e-learning PreK-12
  • Technology curriculum development and integration across PYP, MYP and DP
  • Development and supervision of IT Support services and management including drop-in IT support office
  • Strategic planning and implementation for 1:1 and online learning
  • Chair the E-Learning for Life team - a cross-school committee for educational technology planning
  • Supervise Technology Integration Facilitators across the school, including staff appraisal
  • Design, plan and implement relevant professional development for technology integration and e-learning
  • Supervision of the Systems Software Specialist for administrative and educational web-based applications
  • Manage an operating budget and associated hardware and software orders and planning for sustainability and growth
  • Oversee software licensing and all hardware infrastructure, including inventory and asset management
  • Represent and communicate technology initiatives at parent meetings
  • Manage e-Learning operations including course management and Web 2.0 tools
  • Develop school policies and procedures for use of mobile computing and online learning, including the use of networked resources
  • MYP Technology teacher Grades 6-10 and development of units of work for the information strand including emerging technologies and global collaborative projects
  • Chair the 21C Learning team responsible for developing a Pre-K-12 document of objectives for embedding 21st Century skills and technologies into the curriuclum

Major Accomplishments:

  • Board of Governors approval to move Qatar Academy to a state of the art ICT school
  • Restructure of Primary School to establish Technology Integration Facilitators rather than computer teachers
  • Implementation of mobile computing through a planned approach for laptops across PreK-12
  • Implementation of 1:1 laptops in Senior School
  • Development of MYP Technology curriculum including Flat Classroom Project, Digiteen Project and emerging technologies
  • Integration of global project methodology across the curriculum
  • Flat Classroom Conference, hosted at Qatar Academy - International conference initiated, planned and implemented (January 2009)
  • Enhanced professional development opportunities for all teachers based on the need to move into online learning and mobile computing modes
